Constantly following the news of the labor market and organizing selections, we read a lot of CVs of candidates in various fields. We notice that both the form and the content of CVs are changing rapidly in recent years. Although the CV continues to be the candidate's main calling card, its place is increasingly being taken over Linkedin profile, the features of which we will talk about later. So if you are thinking about looking for a new job, changing your field or are just curious, we share tips on how to create an effective CV.
Changes in CV format and content
We notice that CV forms and formats change faster than content. Candidate CVs are becoming less standardized, shorter, more precise, brighter, more interactive. Such CVs are more often used by the younger generation of candidates who are looking for their first job or have only a little experience. In this way, they seek to attract interest by emphasizing their professional skills and willingness to learn. Regardless of whether you are a beginner or an experienced professional, you can use both a freer and a more structured CV format, and it is important to list the most important information in chronological order and try to fit it into 1-2 pages. In order to keep the volume of the CV as small as possible, we advise you to focus only on those work experiences that are related to a specific position, i.e. one work experience should be described in more detail, others shorter and avoid redundant information, such as seasonal jobs of the study year. And, of course, check several times whether you have left grammatical and style errors.
CV objective and keywords. It is worth noting that the task of creating an effective CV will be greatly facilitated by knowing the purpose and using keywords.
So imagine that you have managed to create a CV, which after reading it, the selection specialist assesses you as a very interesting candidate in just 10 seconds and calls you and invites you to an interview for the long-dreamed-of position. Why do you think he made the decision to invite you in such a short time? We believe that many recruiters use speed reading on every CV to find keywords for specific positions, so highlighting keywords should be your primary task. CV on the front. This part should be emphasized by yours strengths: e.g. available professional skills, achievements, personal qualities, language skills, etc. If you feel that you do not have the necessary skills, then highlight yours motivation and potential and specify exactly by what means and what knowledge and skills you seek to become a specialist in this field in the near future. Perhaps studying and improving your skills on your own? This information is also worth mentioning! If you're having trouble picking the right keywords, you can make a list of the jobs you're looking for, and by selecting a few job postings online, you can easily make a list of the keywords they contain and use them as a guide.
Grfinite elements. Our candidates often ask us if it is worth using a personal photo on a CV. It is not a mandatory element, but if you decide to include it, be sure to consider whether it is of high quality and/or practical depending on the position you are applying for. Do not post documentary photos as this can become a big mistake. Show yourself the natural you, that is, the real you. Choose a more business-like style when applying to a bank, but feel free to choose a CV photo for an advertising agency.
Every CV is unique. It often tells interesting stories about the candidate's professional journey and usually takes us more than 10 seconds to read. We are still ready to read them with pleasure.
We hope that the work of creating a CV will become a pleasant activity for you!
